Innovator's Mindset Project

Image
Kidspiration "My teacher cares about me." Empathetic - When students feel that the teacher cares, they tend to do better. In an empathetic classroom, the information that is delivered is understood and better learned by the students because she/he understands the students mentally and emotionally. We spend 8 hours or more with some students, we can make the time to understand them. "I have a question." Problem Finders/Solvers -We must understand that solving a problem is only a piece of the learning. Everyone takes a different approach when it comes to learning. In the classroom, different learning styles take a different approach when solving and analyzing problems. "This might not be the norm but I want to try it." Risk Takers -I think is amazing that risk takers can be created in the classroom. When our students take risk, we know that we are meeting them where they are academically. As innovators, we take the best approach necessary

Module 3 Quality Questioning

Part I Chapter 1 The purpose of Quality Questioning is students learning at different levels. Everyone in the classroom has a chance to voice their opinion. They are exposed to open discussion and the students add something to the topic during this time. Quality Questioning shows students being engaged and the subject matter is very diverse. In my classroom, I can visualize students answering rapid-fire questions. The students are used to the type of questions that are administered. Chapter 2  Questions are opportunities to open up learning, to connect it to prior learning. The great thing about questions is that they can open up the students' minds. Students need ways to connect with the world around them. Quality Questions focus students on relevant content adjacent to learning goals and standards. Students can be encouraged to facilitate their thinking at the appropriate level. Clearly and concise words facilitate thinking at the appropriate level. I think that making things

Instructional Design Impact and Concept Development!

Part I How does instructional design impact P-12 student learning? Instructional design is all about precise planning, methods, and ideas. It is all about working and putting things in order. The most important thing for an educator is the outcome of the lesson that was just taught. It is just like doing anything in your life, the outcome is what we deem as important.   When it comes to instructional design, there should be clear goals stated before the approach is made with students. In my opinion, when objectives and goals are clearly stated in the beginning, it can help the process. A student that is impacted by instructional design has been equipped with a new skill and is learning how to use this skill in everyday life. If students are given opportunities to have activities that improve critical thinking during discussions, it can impact their future endeavors in the classroom. This type of impact is getting them ready for careers and real-life situations. As teachers, we

21st Century Teaching and Learning

Made with Canva.com One can say that 21 st   Century Teaching and Learning is a transformation of technology, global information, and equipping varies learners. We are all aware that the view of teaching, as well as learning has changed. You would have to be hiding under a rock not to understand the way curriculums and learning modules have taken different turns. The new formation enables students in the classroom to be more creativity, better communicators, and make connections with real-world situations. While reading through the text, I was introduced to the new term educational designer. An educational designer introduces new and inventive ideas. Their mindset is all about new methods that can help diverse learners. They teach through creative ways and live for "aha" moments. Reading, writing, and arithmetic are casually known as the 3Rs. However, with the P12 Framework the 3Rs cannot be discussed without bringing attention to the 4Cs. I learned that the 4Cs are

Technology, Professionally and Personally and What's next?

I love technology that is created to help children with disabilities. Technology that can improve the learning process of children with disabilities is always a plus. I have a background in Special Education and it is important for me to be able to communicate with them. Currently, I use technology in the classroom by using Hatch Computers and IPads. In Head Start, I was able to teach with a SmartBoard. For assessing students, we use a program called Teaching Strategies Gold. This program deals with inventive and effective curriculums, assessments, professional development, and resources for connecting families. Personally, I use technology daily. From having a blog called Miss T's Book Room to having my personal social media handles. I am also into eBooks, Audiobooks, and downloadable magazines. I think it makes life a little easier when things are all together on one device. My Career Aspirations  After becoming a Reading Specialist, I would love to work in the classroom

About Me!

Image
Hello everyone, my name is Kioka Tuck and I was born in Montgomery, Alabama and raised in Rockford, Alabama (Coosa County). I am a Prek Teacher at Coosa Central Elementary for the TCRC Moving4ward Program. I am currently going to school to be a Reading Specialist (Masters). I enjoy reading books, art and crafts, music, and movies. I also have a blog where I talk about diverse children books, diverse art, and culture, it is called Miss T's Book Room. I am also active with my church and I am a volunteer for 4-H. In my opinion, technology is a way of life presently and elementary students are exposed to it everywhere. Some students have a hard time expressing themselves with words, writing or verbally. When they are assigned activities like this, it helps teachers to understand them on another level.
